http://www.s4ye.org: Solutions for Youth Employment (S4YE) is a multi-stakeholder coalition among public sector, private sector, and civil society actors that aims to provide leadership and resources for catalytic action to increase the number of young people engaged in productive work. While there are numerous youth employment initiatives being implemented across the globe, S4YE’s focus is on developing and delivering innovative second generation of youth employment programs – especially those that explicitly link supply side and demand-side interventions, and work together with the private sector. Traditional programs have focused mainly on “supply side” interventions (e.g., training, counseling, job search assistance, etc.) and have had limited impacts on jobs. The coalition intends to develop and design a few blueprints of such second generation youth employment programs through its “Youth Employment Innovation Lab” and then pilot them in a few select countries. An area of particular focus is on connecting young people to digital jobs. A strong theme in all of S4YE’s operations and innovation focus is on evidence building through robust evaluations. Active youth voice and engagement will be a key element in all of S4YE’s governance, strategy and operations.
